License and purchase

How much does Panelgator cost?

The license is €59 as a one-time payment, no subscription. The license is valid for life. To buy a license, visit panelgator.com/en/pricing.

Can I try before buying?

Yes. Panelgator offers a 30-day trial, full-featured and unrestricted. No credit card is required to start the trial. At the end of the 30 days, you’ll need to activate a license to keep using the software.

How many seats can I activate with one license?

One license allows one active seat at a time. If you switch machines, deactivate your license on the old one before activating it on the new one. If you’ve lost access to your old machine (failure, theft, sale), contact support: we’ll free up your activation. support@panelgator.com

What happens at the end of the trial?

The app switches to an expired-trial state. All features are disabled, except license activation. Your projects and your permanent stock are preserved. You regain full use as soon as you activate a valid license.

Can I get an invoice for my company?

Yes, automatically. Every sale is invoiced. The invoice is sent by email after payment.

Installation and updates

What systems does Panelgator run on?

For now, Windows 10/11 64-bit. A macOS version is on the table if demand confirms.

SmartScreen shows a warning at install — is it safe?

Yes, it’s temporary. Panelgator is recent software that needs to accumulate enough downloads to earn Windows’s trust.

To continue the install: click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.

Are updates automatic?

Yes. Panelgator detects new versions at startup and downloads the update in the background. You can choose install and restart now or later. If you click later, the app will ask again at next startup.

Projects and data

Where are my projects stored?

Projects saved from Panelgator use the .pnlg format. It’s a self-contained file holding the project’s entire cut list and stock. Put it wherever you like (local project folder, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.), share it, send it by email, etc.

Where is the permanent (pinned) stock stored?

The permanent stock is saved both in the .pnlg project and in the app’s persistent memory on your machine. The permanent stock keeps your frequently used materials at hand whenever you start a new project. The project stock itself syncs when opening / closing a .pnlg.

Is my data sent over the internet?

No. Panelgator works offline. The only network requests are:

Your parts, your stock, and your calculations never leave your computer.

Can I work offline?

Yes, fully. An internet connection is still needed to activate the license, and recommended for updates.

Can I import an Excel file?

Not directly. First convert your .xlsx to .csv (Excel: Save As > CSV), then use Panelgator’s CSV import. The mapping modal lets you choose which column maps to what.

Application behavior

Why does the app open multiple windows?

It’s intentional: Ctrl+N (New project) opens a separate independent window, which lets you work on two projects in parallel (for example, copy-paste parts between projects via an intermediate CSV export/import).

How do I change the language or theme?

Settings tab > General. Language (French / English), theme (light / dark / system), unit (mm / cm). Choices are persisted on the machine.

Why do my parts use a different material than the one I selected?

If you didn’t explicitly assign a material to a part, Panelgator uses the project’s favorite material (gold star in Stock). If you change the favorite, parts without an explicit material follow along.
